Driven to Succeed! North East racing talent Will Crewdson celebrates A Level results as he gears up for a career in law

RACING driver Will Crewdson is celebrating A Level grade success today after juggling Sixth Form studies at Dame Allan’s with a high-speed season on the national motorsport circuit – and signing with a top racing team and securing professional management to accelerate his career on track.

The 18-year-old from Corbridge has secured a solicitor degree apprenticeship at Marine Law, in Newcastle, while also preparing to step up into the high-profile Vertu Mini Challenge – a nationally televised championship that runs alongside the British Touring Car Championship and is shown live on ITV.

The exciting new move follows a remarkable year for Will, who competed in the Junior Saloon Car Championship (JSCC) after winning its prestigious scholarship in 2024. The season saw him crowned Driver of the Meeting at Anglesey and achieve multiple top 10 finishes against older, more experienced competitors.

Today, Will collected A B B grades in A Level design and technology, geography and business from Dame Allan’s Schools, in Fenham. “I’m really happy and I’m excited about the future,” he said.

It’s been a rapid rise for Will, who first honed his racing skills on a professional simulator in his bedroom during lockdown. After virtually mastering iconic tracks like Silverstone and Brands Hatch, he made the leap from sim to circuit, earning a Motorsport UK competition licence and impressing in the JSCC – where his performances caught the eye of multiple top race outfits.

Having now signed with Mairon Motorsport Management, Will’s summer is focused on securing sponsorship and funding to race in selected Vertu Mini Challenge rounds later this year, ahead of a full season in 2026.

At the same time, he’ll begin a higher-level solicitor degree apprenticeship– a competitive six-year route to qualification that combines legal training with full-time employment.

Will said: “It’s the best of both worlds – I get to develop my career and earn a qualification in law, while still leaving my weekends free for racing. Motorsport will always be a part of my life, and the skills I’ve developed on and off the track will be valuable no matter what path I take.”

Will, who joined Dame Allan’s in Year 3, credits the school’s support system for helping him balance both passions.

“Race weekends often meant leaving school on Thursday night, travelling the length of the country, and testing all day Friday before two days of competition. The teachers and Sixth Form team were amazing – always helping me stay on top of my work and giving me the independence to manage my studies,” he said.

As well as competing, Will hopes to gain his instructor qualifications so he can coach others at track days and motorsport events in the future.

Will Scott, Principal at Dame Allan’s Schools, said: “Will has shown an exceptional level of commitment and discipline to succeed both in the classroom and on the track. He’s a brilliant role model for younger students and we’re incredibly proud of everything he’s achieved.”
