Dame Allan’s Schools are once again thrilled with the GCSE results achieved by its pupils. The 2016 cohort achieved brilliant results which continues the excellent streak of results enjoyed by Dame Allan’s year on year. Many students achieved all A* and A grades, with some even achieving outstanding A**s.
One of the high achievers is Laura Neill from Bedlington who received 8A*, A, and an A** in Further Maths. Laura also took GCSE French a year early in her own time last year, which she also received an A* for. Laura said: ‘I worked really hard for my GCSE examinations. I found some of the mock papers very difficult so I wasn’t expecting to do this well at all! I’m looking forward to relaxing for the rest of the summer and then coming back to Dame Allan’s for the Sixth Form in September.’ Laura plans to study Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Economics for A Level.
The impressive results demonstrate the benefits of the Diamond Structure of the Schools which teaches in single sex classes form Years 7 – 11 whilst students are studying for their GCSE examinations. This provides the academic benefits of single sex education, combined with the social advantages of co-education.
Mark Evans also achieved impressive results with 9 A* grades and an A**. Mark said: ‘I’m really proud of my results, of course! I’m planning to take languages at A Level and carry them on to university.’
Dr John Hind, Principal at Dame Allan’s Schools said: “Once again our students have done the Schools and themselves proud with outstanding GCSE results. Dame Allan’s consistently achieves excellent results which is testament to the stable and excellent teaching and wider education that we offer our students. We are proud of all of our pupils who have worked extremely hard to achieve impressive grades for the Schools as a whole and for themselves as individuals.”
