Straight As at A Level

Students at Dame Allan’s Schools have been celebrating following another excellent batch of exam results. Amid national reports of confusion and a fall in the number of university applicants, 20 students at the Schools in Newcastle achieved all A * and A grades. Impressively four of these achieved all A* grades.

Nairi Weston received 3 A*s, scoring 100% in her Spanish exam, and will be studying Modern and Medieval languages at Cambridge in September. Nairi said: ‘I’m really relieved and quite shocked! I worked really hard so I’m glad it paid off, I can’t wait to start university life.’

Each year there are brilliant success stories for students and Dame Allan’s are thrilled at the fantastic results they have achieved for themselves as individuals and for the Schools as a whole.

Students have gained places on a variety of university courses across the country. These courses vary from Medicine at UCL, Economics at Bath and Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering at Leeds.

Dr Hind, Principal at Dame Allan’s Schools said: ‘The ethos of Dame Allan’s Schools is to educate the whole child and support our students in being the very best they can be. These A Level results are testament to this and we are delighted to be celebrating the success of our students again this year. This cohort in particular has faced challenges with changes to the examination system and they have dealt with this brilliantly; they all deserve every success.’

Finlay Dulson achieved all A* grades and is going on to study PPE at Leeds. He joined Dame Allan’s 10 years ago and said: ‘It does feel a bit sad to be leaving after so long here and all the support I’ve had here, but I am very excited to start university life.’
