It is with a sense of sadness, but also immense pride that our Head of the Junior School, Mr Andrew Edge, has announced his intention to retire in the summer of 2018 after ten years as Head.
Mr Edge has been with Dame Allan’s since 2001 and between 2010 and 2012 he oversaw the opening of our new Junior School on Hunter’s Moor. Under his leadership the Junior School is now a thriving and exciting school which puts the children at the centre of everything it does.
In the New Year the Principal, Dr Hind, and the Governors will commence the process of recruiting a new Head who will continue to build on the excellent work done under the decade of leadership of Mr Edge.
In an announcement to parents, Mr Edge said: ‘I have been privileged to have been in post as Head of the Junior School and Nursery for ten years and in that time I am deeply proud of what we have achieved together, embodied in a relatively new but thriving school. Now that the project has been realised and the school well established (not only in Newcastle but in the region) I feel it is now time to ‘hang up the proverbial boots’. Moreover, since 2001 I have been blessed with experiencing wonderful times at Dame Allan’s and particularly sharing a common vision and working together within a vibrant community, involving wonderful staff and brilliant children. I must also give an almighty thank you to all of the families who have been so supportive and encouraging over this long period. Success only comes through a powerful partnership between home and school. We have that.’
The Junior School is in a very strong position, in March 2017 it enjoyed a successful ISI inspection, is now the primary school of choice in the region and provides unrivalled pastoral care for the children.
Parents, Governors and staff are all fortunate to have worked alongside Andrew and wish him the very best for his retirement.
