Above: Miss Sardone, Admissions Officer at Dame Allan’s Schools
You’re quite new to Dame Allan’s, welcome! What was your first impression of the Schools?
Thank you! It’s been an incredible experience so far. From day one, I’ve been blown away by how welcoming and friendly everyone has been. I’ll admit – I was pretty nervous coming into a school setting for the first time, having never worked in one before. But any worries I had quickly disappeared. It’s honestly been fantastic, and I already feel like part of the team.
This has been a big career change for you. Can you tell us a bit about your career before coming to Dame Allan’s?
I come from a completely different background, having worked in TV and film production for 15 years. I got to work on some big films like The Conjuring 2, King Arthur, The Edge of Tomorrow, and TV shows like The Dumping Ground and Vera. Even though it’s a different industry, a lot of the skills I picked up, like staying organised, dealing with many tasks at once and collaborating with various people, definitely carry over.
For those who aren’t familiar, what is the role of an Admissions Officer?
The role of an Admissions Officer is to manage the application process for prospective pupils, from the initial enquiry all the way through to enrolment. This could include organising a tour of the school, coordinating Open Mornings, holding taster days and overseeing entrance assessments.
What part of your role have you enjoyed the most so far?
I love being part of such a wonderful and supportive team. I’ve also enjoyed meeting so many varied and interesting prospective families!
What would you say to a parent who is interested in joining Dame Allan’s, but not sure where to start?
I would say get in touch and come join us for a visit!
