Head Boy James B is celebrating an outstanding set of A-level results and a place at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
James, from Gateshead, achieved A* grades in Maths and History and an A in Politics, alongside an A* in his Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).
He joined Dame Allan’s in Year 7 and will now head to London to study Philosophy, Politics and Economics at LSE, a course he chose because of his interest in all three subjects.
He said: “I’ve picked what I’m most interested in. There’s no end goal in mind – I just find the course fascinating. I like all three subjects and the way the modules link together.”
Alongside his studies, James has been a member of the Dame Allan’s 1st XV rugby team, which this year reached the national U18 Schools Vase final at Twickenham, and spent his final year as Head Boy, working alongside Head Girl Imogen J.
“Working with Imogen and the Officers Team was one of the highlights of my final year,” he said. “Meetings with Mr Scott were always fun and interesting, and the Leavers’ Dinner at The Biscuit Factory was a big one. Imogen and I got to do a speech, which was really fun to write and deliver.”
Looking back on his time at Dame Allan’s, James said he felt the school had given him more than strong academic results.
He said: “It’s not just about the grades at Dame Allan’s – although yes, it’s great to come away with these results – it’s genuinely feeling like you’re a good person, you’re kind and you have inner confidence.”
