Happy High Flyers at Dame Allan’s

Students and staff at Dame Allan’s Schools in Newcastle are once again celebrating their impressive A Level results.

In all 22 students achieved straight A and A* grades in their A Level examinations, a huge achievement, especially amid national stories of ‘volatile’ results.

One of the star pupils is Matthew Crooks from Ponteland. Matthew achieved an amazing four As in maths, further maths, geography and physics. However, rather than heading straight to university like many of his peers, Matthew will soon be travelling to Australia where he will coach rowing for a year. Mathew said: ‘I am really pleased with my results, I worked really hard and I’m glad all of my hard work paid off. I love rowing and to go to Australia knowing my results will get me into a great university when I get back is really rewarding.’

Dame Allan’s are thrilled that students across the Sixth Form have achieved fantastic results for themselves as individuals and have gained places on a variety of university courses across the country and further afield.

These courses vary from Economics at Bristol, to Archaeology and Ancient Civilisations at Durham to Law at UCL and to Medicine at Queen’s Belfast. There are also a number of students who will be going to Cambridge.

Dr Hind, Principal at Dame Allan’s Schools said: “At Dame Allan’s we pride ourselves on educating the whole child, with strong pastoral and extra-curricular programmes as well as academic rigour to help students gain a variety of skills alongside these first rate examination results.

“Our students have done incredibly well again this year, and we are thrilled to be celebrating their individual success as well as the achievement of this year group. I know how hard they have all worked and they thoroughly deserve their success.

“Our Diamond Structure means we tailor teaching according to gender as well as the individual needs of our students and the fantastic results and huge array of varied and interesting degree courses our students are embarking on is testament to this.”

Roxanne Green was Head Girl during her final year at Dame Allan’s, she achieved an A* and two As in biology, maths and chemistry and will be studying medicine at Leeds in September. She said: ‘I have loved being Head Girl at Dame Allan’s but it certainly meant I had to juggle lots of responsibilities, so I’m really happy with my results. I couldn’t have done it without all the support from the teachers and my friends. Now I’m just really excited to get into university life!’
