We currently offer three kinds of scholarship: academic, sport and music.
Academic scholarships are available for pupils joining Years 7, 8 and 9. They are awarded by the Schools based on a child’s academic merit, as established via the entrance assessment in January.. Academic scholarships are worth a maximum of 50% of fees.
Sports scholarships carry a value of up to 25% of fees. They are awarded to those pupils who are looking to join the Schools in Year 9, who display exceptional talent and potential in one or more sporting disciplines, as assessed by our Director of Sport. Candidates would normally be of County/Academy standard, and will undergo a practical assessment of ability in the Schools’ major sports of :
Girls – Hockey, Netball, Football and Cricket
Boys – Rugby, Football and Cricket
Sport Scholars will be expected to attend all appropriate coaching sessions, train all year round and be available to attend all school matches and competitions.
Sports Scholarships are subject to successful candidates passing the School’s entrance examination.
Music Scholarships cover the cost of tuition on a musical instrument or singing for the academic year. The recipients of the award, valued currently at around ÂŁ735 (subject to annual review), may use the Scholarship in School with our visiting music teachers, or for lessons with an external music teacher. Performers should be working at a level commensurate with or above Grade 4.
Music scholars will be expected to take a full and enthusiastic part in the music-making activities of the Schools. The Scholarship will be renewable upon satisfactory progress throughout the year. The award could be used for study on a second instrument or singing.
Applicants will need to prepare two complete performances of contrasting pieces: these need to be of a minimum grade 3 standard of difficulty.
