Fantastic results for A Level Allanians

Students and staff at Dame Allan’s Schools in Newcastle are celebrating another excellent batch of A Level examination results.

Seventeen students achieved all A*/A grades.

Cameron Lackey did particularly well obtaining three A*s in biology, chemistry and mathematics, which will see him studying medicine at Downing College Cambridge in September.

Cameron said: “I just flew back from holiday last night, which was a really nervous flight, so it is a relief to finally see my results! Cambridge is a great city and I’m off to the same college as Dr Hind. I can’t wait to get started.”

Amy Mason was the only girl in her Computer Science class at both GCSE and A Level. She achieved the all-important A grade, which secured her place at St Andrew’s.

Amy said: “I’m thrilled with my results. I’m really proud of myself. St Andrew’s is the top university for my subject, so I couldn’t be happier.”

Dr Hind, Principal at Dame Allan’s Schools said: “We are delighted to be celebrating the success of our students again this year.

“The ethos of Dame Allan’s Schools is to educate the whole child and support our students in being the very best they can be. Whilst we are delighted for students like Cameron and Amy who have achieved excellent results, we are equally pleased for students whose efforts have brought them their best possible results.

“Today’s results reflect the success of our diamond system of education, which sees our boys and girls educated separately until Year 11, allowing us to tailor our learning according to gender as well as the individual needs of our students.

“These A Level results and the huge array of varied and interesting degree courses our students are embarking on is testament to the success of this system. We wish all the students every success in the future.”

Dame Allan’s Schools are a group of independent schools in Newcastle upon Tyne. The schools were founded in 1705 with the Girls’ School believed to be one of the oldest independent girls’ schools in the country.

The schools are the only establishment in the North East offering the pioneering ‘Diamond Structure’ of education, through which students receive the academic benefits of single-sex education with the social advantages of co-education.
