Dame Allan’s celebrates a quarter of GCSEs at top grade 9

Pupils at Dame Allan’s Schools are today celebrating one of the strongest sets of GCSE results in recent years, with more than a quarter (25.5%) of all grades awarded at the highest level, grade 9.

Nine pupils achieved a clean sweep of nine grade 9s, while in total over 60% (61.8%) of all exams sat were awarded the top grades 9–7, the equivalent of the old A* and A.

The results reflect excellence across a wide range of subjects. All 13 pupils who studied German achieved grades 9–7, while Further Maths and Latin also saw exceptional success, with 96% and 85% of entries respectively awarded at that same top level.

Will Scott, Principal at Dame Allan’s Schools (below), said: “These are outstanding results. To see a quarter of all grades awarded at the very highest level is testament to the dedication and hard work of pupils and their teachers at Dame Allan’s.

“What makes these achievements especially impressive is that pupils have excelled academically while also throwing themselves into the wider life of the school – from sport and public speaking to music, drama and other extra-curricular pursuits.

“It has been a remarkable summer – following one of our best years at A Level, these GCSE results further demonstrate the strength of a Dame Allan’s education in delivering academic excellence while developing the confidence, character and creativity of every individual.”
