Religious and Philosophical Studies

Religious and Philosophical Studies at Dame Allan’s allows pupils to explore belief, ethics and the big questions that shape human life. From Years 7–9, pupils encounter a wide range of perspectives, examining world religions, moral issues and the philosophical ideas that underpin society.

At GCSE and A Level, the subject challenges pupils to think deeply, argue clearly and question thoughtfully. Philosophy pupils engage with ideas around morality, knowledge, identity and existence, while Religious Studies examines contemporary ethical issues, cultural diversity and social responsibility in an increasingly complex world.

Learning is enriched through meaningful experiences beyond the classroom, including visits to places of worship, courts and hospices, overnight trips to Kielder Observatory, and discussions with guest speakers such as religious figures, prison governors and refugees.
