Politics – A level

Politics is a dynamic A Level, appealing to pupils who enjoy debate, ideas and engaging with the world around them. The subject explores the big questions shaping modern society, from how democracy works in the UK to the balance of power in the United States, alongside the political ideas that underpin decision-making and public debate.

Many of the issues studied are directly relevant to young people, encouraging pupils to develop informed opinions and articulate them with confidence. Teaching at Dame Allan’s is lively and discussion-driven, with pupils challenged to analyse competing viewpoints, evaluate evidence and construct persuasive arguments in both written work and debate.
