Geography

Geography at Dame Allan’s is a lively, enquiry-led subject that helps pupils understand the world and their place within it. Studied by all pupils in Years 7–9, geography explores both physical landscapes and human societies, while tackling the urgent global questions shaping the future, from climate change to sustainability and globalisation.

At GCSE and A Level, pupils deepen their understanding through rigorous study combined with real-world application. Geography is a popular Sixth Form subject, valued for the way it develops analytical thinking, independence and global awareness, and many pupils go on to study it at university.

Fieldwork is central to learning. Pupils explore diverse environments across the North East, including Northumberland, South Shields, Warkworth and the Lake District, with optional overseas field trips — such as Iceland — bringing geographical theory to life.
