English Language – A level

A Level English Language offers an intellectually stimulating exploration of how language works in real-world contexts. Pupils study spoken, written and multimodal texts, analysing everything from political speeches and journalism to digital communication and social media.

Teaching is rigorous and research-led, developing pupils’ understanding of language structure, change and variation across time, place and social groups. Pupils learn to apply linguistic methods with confidence, producing analytical writing, original texts and independent research.
