Drama

Drama at Dame Allan’s Schools is a lively, inclusive and much-loved subject, where pupils are encouraged to find their voice, take creative risks and grow in confidence from Year 7 through to Sixth Form. Whether on stage or behind the scenes, pupils experience drama as a powerful way to communicate ideas, build teamwork and develop self-belief.

In Year 7, pupils take part in a dedicated weekly drama club, working collaboratively towards the Christmas Extravaganza, while Year 8 pupils extend their skills through lessons in improvisation, script work and technical theatre.

At GCSE, drama becomes more challenging and more rewarding. Pupils follow the AQA Drama and Theatre Studies course, exploring a wide range of texts and theatrical styles while creating original performances and learning how directors, designers and performers shape meaning for an audience. At A Level, pupils combine practical work with written study, gaining deeper insight into performance, production and live theatre, supported by regular theatre trips and digital access to professional productions.

LAMDA tuition offers additional specialist training, with many pupils achieving Gold Medals. Alongside this, a busy programme of clubs, productions and workshops ensures that drama at Dame Allan’s is visible and accessible to all — from large-scale musicals to intimate plays — nurturing both talent and confidence in equal measure.
