Football
We have 25 teams across Dame Allan's Boys' and Girls' schools with over 400 regular participants in football. Our teams enter both the Newcastle City and Northumberland County cups and regularly play fixtures against other teams in the local area. Our first XI and A teams are entered into the ISFA Cup competitions.
We have a range of clubs available year round for both boys and girls, with weekly training sessions available for all year groups and for students of all abilities. Last year, we ran football tours to Yorkshire and Holland and are planning to expand this even further next year.
Our facilities include multiple playing pitches. Additionally the school fitness suite is available to all for strength and conditioning work. Our internal coaching staff are complimented by our external coach, Newcastle United academy coach Drew Beardsley, who has 15 years experience in working at Dame Allan’s. We aim to ensure that all students receive high quality coaching which is player centred and focuses on ball control and movement. Each year group has a tailored coaching programme which emphasises different skills through different year groups.
We have a number of both boys and girls who are Northumberland County players and Newcastle United academy players, with more students than ever before representing the Newcastle City district team. Just as importantly many go on to continue to play football at university after they leave Dame Allan's.
“I absolutely love football and the school has always been supportive of my commitment to the sport. I think it's great that all girls at school now have the opportunity to enjoy football too, be it competing in matches or simply training together for fun.”
