Basketball

Four basketball clubs run each week. There is a session respectively for Years 7 and 8, Year 9 and Year 10 and 11, run by Newcastle Eagles coaches.

There is also a session for girls in Years 7-11 run by the Eagles’ girls and women’s development coach. These clubs prepare the pupils to compete in the regional cups and National Schools Competition where Dame Allan’s has traditionally had lots of success.

Basketball players at Dame Allan’s Schools benefit from a lucrative partnership with local British Basketball League (BBL) team, Newcastle Eagles – the most successful team in BBL history. There are regular guest coaches running sessions at Dame Allan’s and the school also benefits from sessions run by current Eagles players, including on occasion Head Coach at Newcastle Eagles and Great Britain Head Coach, Marc Steutel.These sessions give our young athletes a chance to learn from the pros and the Club the chance to inspire a new generation of basketball stars, and raise the local profile of the game.
