Admissions

Thank you for your interest in Dame Allan’s Schools.

We understand that choosing a school can be daunting and there are a lot of things to consider - both for your child and also for you as a family. Our aim is to make the admissions process a positive experience for both you and your child.

Dame Allan’s offers a continual learning environment for children aged 3 to 18 and, as such, our Admissions Office is experienced in dealing with entrance procedures across Nursery and Reception, Junior School, Boys' School and Girls' School, and Sixth Form

"No arrogance or entitlement among students here, just pride in their school and gratitude for their opportunities. Diamonds are forever? On this basis, it looks likely."

Good Schools Guide, 2023

How can my son or daughter become part of the Dame Allan’s family?

The first step is to register your child via the application form which you will find in our prospectus or you can apply online via our website

As we are a selective school, children are required to sit an entrance assessment when applying for a place. An invitation will be sent only to those children registered. The style of the assessment varies depending on the age group, but references from a pupil’s current school are required at all ages.

We welcome any prospective parents to contact us to arrange a visit to the Schools at any time. Further opportunities are provided for your child to spend some time in school during the application process.

If applying for the Boys’ School or Girls’ School, children are invited to participate in one of our Jump In! days. This is a classroom taster experience, which provides an opportunity for prospective pupils to find out what life would be like at Dame Allan’s and takes place before the entrance exam. Similar sessions are also arranged for applicants to our on-site Sixth Form.

Please do not feel you have to do this - attendance is not compulsory and will not have any impact on our selection procedures.

Children applying to our Junior School and Nursery will also have the opportunity to spend time in the classroom as part of their assessment day.

We hope the information in this section answers most of your questions about the admissions process and our friendly Admissions team are available to answer any further questions you may have about applying to Dame Allan’s.
