Governors
I became a Governor in 2018 after retiring from Tait Walker Chartered Accountants following 40 years as a partner in the practice. In 2016/17 I was President of the Northern Society of Chartered Accountants.
As a former pupil, married to a former pupil with a son who is a former pupil, the school has always had close ties for me. The school has given me a tremendous base on which to build my career and it is great to help the school continue doing so for future generations.
It is important for me to use my skill set to help the schools along with other organisations in which I am involved.
Currently, I am a Non-executive Director of Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust, where I also Chair the Audit Committee. I am Vice Chair of The Percy Hedley Foundation, chairing the Finance Committee and a Trustee of Mental Health Concern, where I also chair the Finance Committee.
Previously my spare time was heavily linked to rugby, as a player, committee member, and mini rugby coach for many years. Now it is more closely associated with mountain biking and golf.
Late in life I have also begun playing the Saxophone, which I am thoroughly enjoying.
