A group of talented Sixth Form students have today (17th August) picked up their A Level results at Dame Allan’s Schools, marking the end of more than 10 years at Dame Allan’s with well-earned celebrations.
The girls, who have been with Dame Allan’s Schools from Junior School, through to the Senior School and Sixth Form, all achieved As and A*s in their A Level exams. This milestone for the students comes just after the Dame Allan’s Junior School site, in Hunter’s Moor, Newcastle, celebrates its 10th anniversary.
Indeed in 2012, Anya was one of a pair of pupils chosen to star in an ad campaign to promote the newly opened Dame Allan’s Junior School and Nursery.
Ten years on, Anya is celebrating A*s in Biology and Chemistry, as well as an A in Maths, and will be heading to the University of Sheffield to study Chemistry, with an industrial placement.
“It really is full circle for this talented group of students,” said Will Scott, Principal at Dame Allan’s Schools, “it has been a privilege to support them throughout their schooling, seeing them flourish and grow into the remarkable young adults they are today. We all wish them the very best for their next steps.”
Charlotte Graham, who is planning to study Psychology at the University of Exeter, described getting her results as an ‘overwhelming but great’ experience. Speaking about her time at Dame Allan’s, Charlotte was grateful for the foundation that the Schools offered:
“Being part of Dame Allan’s all the way through my schooling gave me a sense of stability, which I think was really beneficial. It was a chance to learn amongst familiar faces and build a rapport with the teachers, which only grew stronger as we started prepping for A Levels. They were really supportive”
Sophia Shek, who is celebrating her acceptance to study Law at Newcastle University, added: “It really is the people who make Dame Allan’s, the Schools have a wonderful sense of community.”
Sophia and Charlotte both also volunteered weekly at the Junior School during their time in Sixth Form, as part of Dame Allan’s community service programme. Sophia added: “The Schools have given so much to me, I felt like I wanted to give something back. I loved volunteering at the Junior School.”
Following their A Level success, the girls are looking forward to their next steps at university, and the promising careers that are sure to follow.
