Maths

Mathematics at Dame Allan’s Schools develops logical thinkers who enjoy challenges and take confidence from solving problems independently and together. Studied by all pupils through the Senior School, maths builds precision, resilience and clear thinking — skills that underpin success across the curriculum

Lessons encourage pupils to explore ideas, test approaches and explain their reasoning, helping them develop a deep understanding rather than simply learning methods by rote. For those who enjoy additional stretch, opportunities extend beyond the classroom through national mathematical challenges, regional team competitions and the popular Puzzle Club.

In the Sixth Form, mathematics is a demanding and popular choice, often studied alongside sciences, computing or economics. The subject opens doors to a wide range of university courses and careers, from engineering and finance to research, data and technology. Pupils leave Dame Allan’s as confident, capable problem-solvers — well prepared for the intellectual demands of higher education and the professional world.
