Food Tech

Food Technology combines practical skills, creativity and scientific understanding to equip pupils with essential life skills. From Year 7, pupils explore nutrition, healthy eating and the principles of food preparation through hands-on lessons that develop confidence and precision in the kitchen. By Year 9, pupils are proficient in producing a wide range of dishes, from main courses and desserts to baked goods, while gaining insight into ingredient provenance, seasonality and sustainability.

At GCSE, Food Preparation and Nutrition allows pupils to study the subject in greater depth, combining practical cookery with scientific analysis of food materials and nutritional principles. Co-curricular opportunities, including Masterchef and Bake Off competitions and charity events, give pupils the chance to extend their skills, experiment creatively and share their culinary achievements with the wider school community.
