FOUR exceptional pupils at Dame Allan’s Schools have collectively achieved 19 A* grades at A Level, securing them all university places at Oxford and Cambridge.
Dexter Bell, from Gateshead, has earned a place at the University of Cambridge to study Engineering with top grades in Computer Science, Maths, Further Maths and Physics, and an additional A* in the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), which is worth half an A Level.
“I’m so pleased with my results,” said Dexter. “I’ve been really inspired by my teachers at Dame Allan’s to pursue engineering at university. The physics teacher, Mr Dickinson, is so enthusiastic and the best teacher I’ve ever had!”
Francesca Morgan, from Fenham, has also secured a place at Cambridge, where she will read Natural Sciences. Francesca achieved straight A* grades in Chemistry, Physics, Maths, Further Maths and the EPQ.
Looking ahead to her time at Cambridge, she said: “I am very much looking forward to the academic rigor and challenge of being taught by the leading researchers in the world at university.”
Denny Shy, from Blyth, has earned a coveted spot at the University of Oxford to study Chemistry. He celebrated straight A* grades in Chemistry, Physics, Maths, Further Maths and the EPQ.
He said: “I’m so grateful for the opportunity to go to Oxford and glad that the hard work has paid off. Being a pupil at Dame Allan’s has been an amazing experience.”
Bea Smalley, from Hexham, will also be heading to Oxford, where she will study History. Bea achieved A* grades in English Literature, History, Politics and the EPQ.
“I feel so relieved and elated. I’ve worked really hard and I’m so happy,” she said. “My teachers are fantastic and have inspired me so much, they’ve really taught me how to think critically and pushed me to be the best I can be. I’m so excited to go to Oxford.
