50th year reunions

50th year reunions

50 years after they left school, Dame Allan’s Girls School (DAGS) 1967 leavers, and a few of their teachers, came together for a reunion. In early July the group of over 30 Allanians gathered at the Schools, for many of them it was the first time they had been back since they left. They enjoyed coffee, a welcome speech from the then Head Girl Catherine Buckley (nee Zenner) before being taken on a guided tour by some of the Dame Allan’s prefects.

This was followed by lunch and the cutting of a cake decorated with the Dame Allan’s badge. The reunion group then presented Dr Hind with a donation for a DAGS 67 bursary fund which totalled an amazing £8,500.

The day finished with a brilliant presentation on school memories by Allanian, Sonja Oyen (nee Hanson).

The following Saturday a group of 1967 DABS leavers (organised by Peter Willoughby) had their reunion. In the morning they gathered at Schools for coffee, tour and a catch up, and they were delighted that a couple of their teachers joined them. Later on they continued their reunion with drinks and dinner in town.

It was lovely to meet so many Allanians from the leavers’ year of 1967 and we very much hope they enjoyed catching up with old school friends. We are always delighted to welcome Allanians who want to come back and re-live some memories at Dame Allan’s – if you would like some help to organise a reunion of your year group, please contact the development office on alumnirelations@dameallans.co.uk  who will be very happy to help.
