Welcome

A child’s first experience in school is a vital step in their learning journey. At Dame Allan’s Junior School, children in Nursery and Reception enjoy a friendly, nurturing environment where having fun and learning go hand-in-hand.

Our pupils enjoy a broad, child-centred curriculum that stimulates their young minds and ignites a love of learning. This ensures that all children maximise their potential, enabling them to develop into independent learners who are highly motivated and fully engaged in their learning.

We offer an outstanding, creative learning environment, with superb facilities both indoors and out. Inside, the Nursery and Reception classrooms are housed together in a purpose-built area of the Junior School building. This offers the security of being a separate space for our youngest children with the benefits of being on-site within the Junior School to allow for a seamless transition into Year 1 and beyond.

Outside, children have access to their own play space and benefit from outstanding outdoor education facilities. Classes held in the School’s ‘Woodland Way’ outdoor classroom and in ‘The Edge’ yurt encourage children to explore and be adventurous. Both facilities are central to the School’s exciting Skogsmulle programme, a Swedish educational initiative which centres on a fantasy figure who informs children about nature through play and song.

Developing strong partnerships with parents, guardians and carers is essential in this process. Parents are kept fully up to date and well informed of their child’s learning and our open door policy allows parents to get a better understanding of how their child learns at school.
