Green Flag Success
Dame Allan’s has been awarded the prestigious Green Flag status.
The Green Flag is the highest level of achievement in the Eco-Schools international award programme, which is administered in England by Keep Britain Tidy.
The Eco-Panel has been guiding the Schools through the programme, beginning with the bronze award which was awarded in 2008. Simple changes, like ensuring all unnecessary lights are switched off and that paper, cans and other materials are recycled have already cut bills as well as making Dame Allan’s one of the most sustainable schools in the country.
The Green flag award symbolises excellence in environmental activity and is only awarded after a tough assessment process. The assessor who visited the Schools in March is recommending Dame Allan’s as a case study for schools looking to start on the Eco School journey after his visit: “I was very impressed with the way the school has adopted the eco-schools programme. The programme is integrated throughout the school, with extensive knowledge by all.”
