      Parents’ Associations

When your child joins Dame Allan’s they become a member of the Schools’ family, as do their parents.  Parents are invited to join Dame Allan’s Schools Parents’ Association (DASPA).  DASPA strives to provide events that the whole school community will enjoy, as well as raising funds to enhance the students’ education and experiences.  The combined Senior School and Junior School DASPA committees raise more than £10,000 each year and most recently made major contributions to purchase of a new school mini-bus, a seating area for the girls’ quad, new equipment for the fitness suite, a cycle shed, sophisticated projection and communications equipment for drama productions, solar panels and life size chess sets.

Both the Senior School and Junior School have DASPA organisations and both hold events which all of the students and their families are welcome to attend.  The DASPA committees meet on a regular basis to plan activities and consider funding requests submitted by the teachers and departments.

      Examples of DASPA activities include:

      • Biennial spring ball
      • Christmas Bazaar
      • Summer Fair
      • Family ceildh
      • Junior School discos

As part of our ongoing fundraising efforts, we have set up an account with ‘Give As You Live’, an online fundraising organisation that helps charities raise money.  ‘Give As You Live’ operates in a simple way: when online shopping, visit the website www.giveasyoulive.com and then select the retailer you wish.  Once you have made a purchase, ‘Give As You Live’ will then give a percentage of the purchase you have made (between 1 and 4 percent) to a nominated charity, in this case - Dame Allan’s Schools' Parents’ Association – at no extra cost to you.

The DASPA officers can be contacted via the School Office or at DASPA@dameallans.co.uk
